Tynemouth World War One Commemoration Project database Launch

The Tynemouth World War One Commemoration Project that the Coast Explorer Scout unit has been working with held an information day in North Shields library on the 28th of June to launch their new database.

The database holds information about all of the people recorded on the Borough of Tynemouth's roll of honour, which includes a number of former Scout Masters and Assistant Scout Masters (as they were called at the time).

The Scouts were represented by a stand showing what they did for the war effort and by a few present leaders being their both in their Scout role and their work role.

The database can be accessed for free by clicking here

WW1 Centenary Parade

On Sunday the 3rd of August the Tynemouth WW1 Commemoration Project hosted a parade to mark the centenary of the start of the First World War in Northumberland Square, North Shields.

Tynemouth Scouts did their bit to honour the memory of everyone involved, particularly the Scouts of 100 years ago, by manning a stall, taking part in the parade and then going to the opening of the commemoration garden the Coast Explorer Scout Unit had worked so hard on.
