WW1 Centenary Bench

On Saturday the 24th of January the District's Scout Active Support Unit unveiled a memorial seat to the scouts who gave their lives in World War One. Money for the seat had been raised by the unit and the Scout Groups around the Distict.

The seat will be in the WW1 memorial garden that the Coast Explorer Scouts helped tidy and are maintaining in the Linskill centre.

Thanks to Colin Naisbett for the photos.

Murder Mystery Night

The District's Scout Active Support unit organised a murder mystery night in the church hall next to the 6th Tynemouth's HQ on Friday 26th June to raise money for the District.

The performers read through the script written by Chris and Linda Benneworth entitled "Murder at Gosforth Park" based around a camp in the 1960's where William Kann, a Scout Leader had been murdered.

After a fish and chip supper the audience had to work out which of the performers had committed the crime. Congratulations to the 7 people who not only worked it out but also got the tie breaker question correct. There names were put into a draw which resulted in Grace from the 18th Tynemouth win the prize for solving it.

Thanks to David Littlefield for preparing and leading the actors and to Chris Harrison for taking the photos.

Last Night At The Scout Proms

The District's Scout Active Support unit held a very successful last night at the proms event at Christ Church Parish Centre on Friday 16th of October.

Over 90 people were there having a great time and helping to raise funds for the Alan Shearer Foundation (Disabled Adults and Young People) and our own County Scout Project Lookwide UK (Starfish Club) (Disadvantaged Young People).

During the course of the evening, as well as the great entertainment, there was a raffle and the auction of an Newcastle United shirt signed by Alan Shearer.
